Welcome to Rune-Midgard! This section will guide you through your first steps and explain some of the core game mechanics on RiftRO.
1. Character Creation
When you first log in, you’ll be prompted to create your character. Here’s what you need to know:
- Name: Choose a unique name for your adventurer.
- Appearance: Customize your character’s hairstyle and color.
- Starting Class: You’ll begin as a Novice. Don’t worry, you’ll get to choose your first job soon!
2. Basic Controls & Interface
Understanding the controls and the game interface is essential for your adventure:
- Movement: You can move your character by clicking on the ground.
- Interaction: Click on NPCs to talk to them, monsters to attack, and items to pick them up.
- Skills: Use the number keys (usually 1-0 and -/=) to activate your skills. You can drag skills from your skill window (Alt + S) to your hotbar for easy access.
- Interface:
- The top-left corner shows your HP (Hit Points) and SP (Skill Points).
- The bottom-right usually contains the chat window.
- Use the menus at the bottom (e.g., Inventory – Alt + E, Skills – Alt + S, Equipment – Alt + Q) to manage your character.

3. Leveling & Stats
As you defeat monsters and complete quests, you’ll gain experience points (EXP). Once you accumulate enough EXP, you’ll level up!
- Stats: Each time you level up, you’ll receive stat points that you can allocate to your character’s attributes:
- STR (Strength): Increases physical attack power and carrying capacity.
- AGI (Agility): Increases attack speed and flee rate.
- VIT (Vitality): Increases maximum HP and defense.
- INT (Intelligence): Increases magical attack power, SP, and SP recovery.
- DEX (Dexterity): Increases hit rate, casting speed, and refine success rate.
- LUK (Luck): Increases critical hit rate, resistance to status effects, and chance of lucky drops.
4. First Steps in Rune-Midgard
As a new Novice, you’ll likely start in or near Prontera. Here are a few things you can do:
- Talk to NPCs in Prontera to get a feel for the world and find starting quests.
- Venture to the fields around Prontera to hunt low-level monsters like Porings and Fabres to gain your first levels.
- Look for the Job Master in Prontera to change to your first job once you reach Job Level 10.
