RiftRO is committed to providing a fair, fun, and welcoming experience for all players. By joining the server, you agree to abide by these rules, both in-game and in the community. Violations may result in warnings, suspensions, or permanent bans, depending on severity.
RiftRO was founded on the belief that excessive speech toxicity eventually corrodes the community and makes people paranoid as they are constantly walking through hostile environments. Therefore, instead of enforcing draconian rules, we give people the opportunity to moderate themselves and treat others the way they would like to be treated. This approach also frees staff from having to deal with petty disputes and other such nonsense. Most topics are open for discussion and casual profanity won’t get you banned. Of course, there are exceptions to this, as the overall integrity of the server is more important than anything.
1️⃣ General Conduct
🔹 Respect all players, staff, and community members. Harassment, hate speech, racism, sexism, homophobia, and any form of discrimination are strictly prohibited.
🔹 No excessive toxicity. Friendly competition is allowed, but constant negativity, insults, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
🔹 No impersonation of staff or other players. Pretending to be an admin or another user for deception is a bannable offense.
🔹 English and Spanish are the primary languages in public chats. You may use other languages in private conversations.
2️⃣ In-Game Rules
2.1 Fair Play & Game Integrity
✅ Play fair—cheating, exploiting, or abusing bugs is strictly prohibited.
✅ If you find a bug or exploit, report it immediately. Abusing exploits may result in a permanent ban.
✅ Using external programs, bots, macros, or scripts that automate gameplay is strictly forbidden.
✅ Multiboxing (playing multiple accounts simultaneously) is limited to 2 accounts per player. More than this is considered abuse.
2.2 PvE, PvP & Guild Wars
✅ Kill-stealing (KS) is not allowed unless the other player explicitly agrees to share the mob/boss.
✅ MVP and mini-boss rules: If a player or party engages an MVP first, others must wait for it to reset before attempting to claim it.
✅ PvP & War of Emperium (WoE) (when enabled) will have additional rules based on community feedback. No griefing or malicious targeting of players outside of competition.
2.3 Trade & Economy
✅ Scamming is strictly forbidden. Intentionally deceiving another player in trades, loans, or transactions is punishable by a permanent ban.
✅ Abuse of alternative accounts to manipulate the economy (such as farming Zeny to transfer to a main account) will be investigated and penalized.
3️⃣ Community & Discord Rules
3.1 Chat & Communication
✅ No excessive spamming, advertising, or off-topic discussions in game chats, forums, or Discord.
✅ NSFW (Not Safe for Work) content is strictly forbidden in public channels.
✅ Do not flame, troll, or provoke others. Keep discussions respectful.
✅ The use of bots, scripts, or spam messages to flood the chat will result in an immediate mute or ban.
3.2 Discord & Social Media Policies
✅ Your Discord name must be appropriate and not offensive.
✅ Do not doxx (leak private information) about other players or staff members.
✅ No unauthorized promotion of other servers, websites, or communities unless explicitly permitted by staff.
4️⃣ Staff Rules & Responsibilities
4.1 The staff is here to enforce rules fairly and assist players, not to abuse power.
4.2 Staff members cannot give players unfair advantages, items, or information that would disrupt game balance.
4.3 If a staff member is involved in a dispute, another unbiased staff member will handle the case.
4.4 Reports against staff members should be submitted privately to an admin, with proof if possible.
4.5 Staff & Admin are not allowed to have normal accounts.
5️⃣ Punishments & Appeals
5.1 Punishment System
🔸 Minor infractions → Warning or temporary mute
🔸 Repeated offenses → Temporary suspension (3-7 days)
🔸 Major violations (cheating, RMT, harassment) → Permanent ban
5.2 Appeal Process
- If you believe you were punished unfairly, you may submit an appeal through the official forum or Discord.
- Appeals must be respectful and include evidence supporting your case.
- The final decision will be made by senior staff and is not open to further argument.
6️⃣ Censorship, Language & General Etiquette
- 6.1 Respect others – If someone asks you to stop insulting them or using excessive profanity, comply politely. Staff will step in if things get out of control.
- 6.2 Sensitive topics – Discussions on politics, religion, race, or sexuality often lead to conflict. Staff may intervene if discussions become hostile.
- 6.3 Context matters – Harassment isn’t only about profanity; if you are bothering someone repeatedly, it counts as an offense.
- 6.4 Private harassment – If someone continues harassing you in private after you’ve told them to stop and used
/ignore, contact staff with proof. - 6.5 Respect the staff – They can joke, but they won’t tolerate demands, false accusations, or insults. If you have issues with a staff member, report them to management.
- 6.6 Lying to staff or admins is strictly prohibited.
7️⃣ Language Use
- 7.1 English or Spanish is mandatory in
#mainand#mapchannels. It is highly recommended in Prontera, but only enforced if other languages are used with bad intentions. - 7.2 Advertising – Most advertising leads to a permanent ban. Exceptions: personal streams, as long as you’re a real player.
- 7.3 Inappropriate Names – Character, group, or guild names containing extreme profanity or personal attacks must be changed or will face punishment.
- 7.4 City Spam – Spamming area skills or visually intensive effects in cities is not allowed.
- 7.5 Begging – Asking players or staff for zeny, items, or help is not tolerated.
8️⃣ Privacy
- 8.1 Communications on riftRO belong to the sender, and we respect privacy.
- 8.2 Staff will only request private messages in cases of serious harassment, cheating, or server sabotage.
- 8.3 Before asking staff for help, use available resources (Wiki, Forum, Discord) or ask other players.
9️⃣ MvP’s & Mob Handling
- 9.1 MVPs are free-for-all – No player or group has ownership over MVPs unless they were summoned via Bloody Branch or Abracadabra (which belong to the summoner).
- 9.2 Support skill usage on MVPs is reviewed case-by-case.
- 9.3 MVPs cannot be “claimed” by simply attacking them first.
- 9.4 An MVP is considered abandoned if the player does not actively fight it for more than 30 seconds. Others can then take it.
- 9.5 Luring mobs/homunculi to attack an MVP you don’t own is not tolerated.
- 9.6 Manipulating monster spawns (forcing them to spawn only in a single area or blocking their normal spawn) is prohibited.
- 9.7 Do not clog maps with inactive alchemists, homunculi, or other automated setups that prevent others from playing.
1️⃣0️⃣ Good Sportsmanship (WoE & PvP)
All players are expected to show good sportsmanship during War of Emperium (WoE). These rules apply inside and outside the castle:
- 10.1 No pre-WoE sabotage – Do not weaken competitors shortly before WoE (e.g., PvP attacks).
- 10.2 No blocking pathways – Dropping items or placing merchants at castle entrances to obstruct movement is not allowed.
- 10.3 No spam invites – Do not send trade/party/guild invitations to disrupt strategies.
- 10.4 No trap blocking – Do not obstruct defensive setups before WoE begins.
- 10.5 No emblem switching – Changing your guild emblem during WoE is disabled, but attempting to bypass this rule is forbidden.
- 10.6 No impersonation – Do not copy or modify a competitor’s guild emblem to deceive others.
1️⃣1️⃣ Third-Party Programs, Cheats & Exploits
- 11.1 Cheating is a permanent ban offense – Using bots, hacks, or bypassing GRF encryption will result in an immediate permanent ban for all accounts linked to your IP.
- 11.2 Custom GRFs are not allowed – This includes sprite modifications. The only exception is a gray world or simplified skill effects for PvP.
- 11.3 No vote/donation abuse – Using multiple accounts or IPs to exploit the voting or donation systems will lead to a permanent ban.
- 11.4 No AutoHotKey (AHK) or automation – Any combat-related automation (e.g., skill spam, AFK farming) is forbidden.
- 11.5 Simple macros are allowed only for crafting-related tasks (e.g., potion-making).
- 11.6 Exploiting unfinished or bugged content is strictly prohibited. Report issues to staff for potential rewards.
- 11.7 Evasion of punishments will result in even harsher penalties.
- 11.8 No multi-clienting during GM events or Battlegrounds.
1️⃣2️⃣ Player Accounts & Security
- Your account, your responsibility – Choose a strong password and keep it secure. [SEE BELLOW FOR TOOLS]
- If you share your account, you are responsible for any actions performed on it.
- If you believe your account is compromised, contact staff immediately.
- We encourage strong passwords – Use our recommended password tools or security meters to test your password strength.
1️⃣3️⃣ Staff, Discretion & Player Conduct
Staff aim to be impartial, but senior members have full discretion in handling serious cases. Do not attempt to manipulate or influence them.
- 13.1 Impersonating Helpers/GMs/Admins will get you banned.
- 13.2 Bribing staff for favors (e.g., giving money for in-game advantages) will result in a permanent ban.
- 13.3 Our goal is to create an enjoyable environment for everyone. These rules exist to enhance the game, not restrict fun! If you have questions or suggestions, contact us via the official channels.

📌 Occupying Spaces
- ✅ Use designated spaces only – Do not place your shop in an already occupied space.
- 🚫 No overlapping – Do not block other merchants’ shops.
🏷️ Shop Setup
- ✅ Use proper shop names – Clearly indicate what you’re selling.
- 🚫 No misleading shop names – Do not trick buyers with deceptive titles.
💰 Item Pricing
- ✅ Keep pricing fair – Stick to reasonable market prices.
- 🚫 No price gouging – Overpricing to exploit buyers is discouraged. (ex. Apple 1,000,000 Zeny)
⚠️ Behavior & Conduct
- ✅ Respect fellow merchants – No harassment or abusive language.
- 🚫 No spamming – Avoid excessive chat messages in the selling area.
📜 Selling Regulations
- ✅ Sell legal items only – No illegal or exploitative sales.
- ✅ Provide accurate item descriptions – Buyers should know what they are purchasing.
🎯 Use of @pmall Command
- ✅ Use @pmall properly – This command is only for teleporting to the selling area.
🚨 Rule Enforcement
- Failure to follow these rules may result in warnings, temporary bans, or permanent bans from the selling area.
- Report violations to the admin team for prompt action.

The rules outlined here are not absolute or rigidly enforced without context. Making a mistake does not automatically mean you will be permanently punished. We understand that we are all human, and sometimes we have bad days where we may act out of character.
However, maintaining a healthy and enjoyable environment in riftRO is our top priority. The admin and staff are the first to follow these rules and set the example for the community.
While fairness and understanding are key, repeated or intentional violations will be handled accordingly to ensure the well-being of all players.
